Self Care Sunday's

I have always been a huge preacher of self care and putting my mental health and inner wellbeing before everything. With most of us falling victims to busy schedules and being on the grind 24/7, sometimes we forget to take a second to stop and breathe. That's why I'm advocating for self-care Sundays for all, prioritising just one day of the week for some self TLC to ensure you're relaxing, regrouping and refreshing. It is a major key to prioritise looking after your wellbeing, because you can't be productive and glowing from the outside without having your mind and soul in-check first.

Self love isn't selfish, it's important - so here are some things you should consider doing at least once a week to keep yourself feeling cool, calm and collected ♡

TREAT YOURSELF

Dedicate part of your day to treating yourself with a pampering session; paint your nails, run a warm bath, light some candles and sit back with your favourite wine because you deserve it. It's hard to find time every day of the week for a full skin routine, so give your skin a proper cleanse and exfoliation, enjoy a face mask and lather up with soothing face oils and moisturisers. I'm also loving the soothing hydrogel eye patches from Mecca Cosmetica right now! Leave an eye mask on while you catch up on some Netflix, and come out looking refreshed and bright eyed like you've slept a full 12 hours. Your hair deserves some loving too, so leave in a hair mask and run through some argan oil to leave it shining and glowing.

JUST RELAX

Everyone has different ways they like to switch off - so do what relaxes you, whether that's binge watching your favourite show, picking up a good book to read, or unwinding with a yoga session.

Turn off your devices for a while, your emails can wait until tomorrow and your friends Facebook posts will still be sitting there. Social media has turned into another stressful task that makes you feel the need to be constantly updated, but start to focus on your own life instead of everybody else's. Take moments to clear your mind of everything and just concentrate on breathing; meditation will help dissolve your stress and bring you clarity.

Your body needs a rest too, so take the day off the gym. Having a day off your workout will actually help your progress, because your muscles need a chance to recover in order to repair and strengthen. Instead, cleanse your body with good foods and vitamins and it'll glow through your skin from within.

CLEAN YOUR SPACE

I can never completely relax without my personal space being clean & tidy, and it's quite therapeutic to de-clutter your environment and organise your things. So help yourself relax by taking some time to throw away the junk that's taking up space and even treat yourself to some fresh flowers to make your home feel lovely and aesthetic.

SAY NO

Sometimes we put too much on our plate too handle at once, trying to balance work obligations, social plans, and other life commitments, but sometimes you have to do yourself a big favour and just say no. It's okay to skip dinner with the girls or coffee catchups with a friend this one time. Self care is a perfectly good excuse to say no, which should be normalised and utilised more often.

Remember - You gotta nourish to flourish, so start getting in the routine of dedicating at least one day of the week to take care of your mind, body & spirit.
