How to spend a week in Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown New Zealand is the perfect getaway for a week's vacation, with something to offer for everyone. Although the town is small, the area is packed with never-ending natural beauty, diverse culture and adrenalin-packed adventures for all the thrill seekers out there.

There are so many reasons you'll fall in love with Queenstown, from the snow capped mountains that will mesmerise you with their changing colours, delicious dining, and the contagious energy of the friendly little town, filled with enthused backpackers and young tourists from every corner of the world.

All year round offers a unique perspective of the towns beauty through the different seasons. Winter is perfect for the snow lovers and summer is perfect for road trips and hiking adventures.

After returning to Queenstown this winter for a ski-trip, the area had a completely different vibe than my last visit during the summer. The town resembled something from a movie that radiated so much joy it had me feeling like Christmas time.

My week was action packed with something new and scary and exciting every day, conquering all fears and left me feeling like I could take on the world.

If I've hopefully just convinced you to plan a trip to Queenstown, here's my activity guide to spending the perfect week in paradise. It'll leave you hooked and wanting more like me:

Go snowboarding & skiing at The Remarkables and Mt Coronet. As a first time snowboarder, these two ski fields were the perfect place to get started, with beginner lessons and the whole gear setup. I had the best three days on the slopes (the beginner kind) and now I'm dying to get back into it.

After working up an appetite being a pro-athlete all day, head into town for a famous Ferg Burger. Their world acclaimed burger is sure worth the line up, and the mulled apple cider is the perfect solution to keep you warm.

Face your fears and go sky diving over the snow capped mountain range with NZONE. Jumping out of a plane at 12,000 ft was the biggest thrill of my life, I had the biggest smile stretched across my face the whole way down and the go-pro footage to prove it. I'm just glad it didn't capture the part where I vomitted on the bus afterwards (yay for motion sickness).

Get your crew together and go river rafting in the ice cold glacier waters of the Shotover Canyon

Hold on tight and get to some seriously high speeds jet boating through the canyons on the Shotover Jet

Witness Queenstown's beauty from above on a scenic helicopter glacier tour

Ride the Skyline gondola to the top of Queenstown and enjoy the panoramic views from the Stratosphere buffet restaurant

Enjoy a day of indulging on New Zealand's finest wine and cheese on a winery tour through the Gibston valley region

Relax, rewind and rejuvenate at the Onsen Hot Pools in a private spring fed spa with a bottle of champagne and breathtaking mountain views

Explore the gorgeous natural landscape of Glenorchy on a horse back riding adventure

Set aside a day of your holiday for a day trip out to the natural wonder of Milford Sound for a river cruise through the spectacular landscapes and waterfalls

Here's some shots from my amazing 7 day adventure in Queenstown. I can't wait to return to this beautiful place one day.
